Quietbrace Structural Sheathing
Quietbrace combines the code-required bracing of a
structural sheathing with the sound-deadening properties of
a sound board in one material that's labor, time and cost
efficient. QuietBrace is designed to reduce noise better
than denser wood structural panels. Its noise-reduction
coefficient of .30 is almost twice as high as denser
material like OSB and plywood. QuietBrace is third-party
certified to comply with the structural fiberboard standard
ASTM C208 that is referenced in the IRC and the IBC.
QuietBrace adds insulation value. QuietBrace adds extra
insulation value too. The typical 1/2"-thick panel provides
an R-value* of 1.31, which is anywhere from 20-50% higher
than gypsum wallboard, OSB or plywood. QuietBrace offers two
kinds of moisture damage protection. First, its exterior
coating helps it resist liquid moisture absorption and
infiltration to keep external moisture out of a structure.
Second, its true permeability provides an escape route
allowing interior moisture vapor to pass through to the
outside, significantly reducing the risk of damaging mold
and decay within the wall cavity. |
